Rowan is the Museum Director and has overall responsibility for implementing the policy and objectives of the Board of Trustees, managing the collection and site and providing leadership for the organisation.
Ellie Swinbank

Ellie is responsible for looking after and interpreting the Collection at the National Mining Museum Scotland. This includes overseeing the cataloguing and preservation of our objects, archives and library books, and using them in exhibitions and activities. She also works with other museums nationally to establish partnerships and work on collaborative projects.
Maureen Hardiker

Maureen in our Office Manager and it’s her job to take the initial enquiries for functions. She also ensures that the office runs smoothly and that our customers are invoiced correctly; orders are raised and processed for prompt payment.
Robin Robertson

Robin is our Visitor Services Manager, and it’s his job to ensure that our visitors leave with a memorable experience. His responsibilities include all the public areas of the Museum, the Reception and Guiding staff, and the shop.
Gillian Rankin

Gillian is our Marketing and Events Officer and it’s her job to promote the museum through advertising & PR and to develop and promote the museum’s programme of events.
Alison Shepherd

Alison is our Education Support Officer. To ensure all learners get what they need from the museum, she is always happy to advise and talk through ideas. She also initiates, supports and manages partnership learning projects at NMMS.
David Newton

David is in charge of all things technical around the site, including Health & Safety, Security and maintenance of the property.
