Housed in the wonderfully restored Lady Victoria Colliery, the finest surviving Victorian colliery in Europe, National Mining Museum Scotland tells the story of coal for Scotland.  Through two floors of exhibitions, interactives and tours, visitors can retrace the footsteps of thousands of miners and their families who relied on the colliery to make a living.

COLLIERY TOURS

A tour of the pithead, recreated underground roadway and coalface with an ex-miner guide give the atmosphere and noise of a working pit - an experience which instantly makes you glad you're not a miner! Alternatively, you can explore the colliery through a 16 stop audio tour, a multimedia guide downloaded onto your own device via QR code. Our tour guides will be available on the route to take questions and provide additional information.

Please allow around 2-3 hours for your visit and make sure you wrap up warm as some areas of the colliery are exposed to the elements!

We look forward to welcoming you soon!
