The Net Zero Town Challenge was developed as part of the Midlothian Climate Beacon project. This digital resource takes our learning about Climate Change a step further and best of all, it’s completely FREE!

Pupils are tasked with planning a new town in Midlothian however, it needs to be Net Zero. This involves working in teams to decide on a location, sources of electricity, transport, building materials, local landscape and what buildings/amenities we need and want. Pupils must then balance the carbon footprint in each aspect to get a result of zero!

“Best digital activity we’ve done in years! My class were so engaged and really loved sharing their ideas.” – Teacher feedback, Gorebridge Primary School

This resource includes full Teacher Notes, a PowerPoint presentation with full instructions for the class, a video lesson from Sincy Science (one of our partners on the project and a trailer for the video is below), maps and worksheets for pupils to complete.
